you do realize that music exists outside of your small limited indie songwriter world. everything from soul to jazz to opera. music is not just about the songwriters and storytellers but also the technical ability to sing, about pitch, tone, color and interpretation. it may be an old fashioned idea but in the old days of ella fitzgerald and frank sinatra the human voice was treated as a musical instrument. singing is an art on its own.

Yeah they can sing, I am pretty sure they don't write their own lyrics even, and I know for sure they are not musicians.
