Malaysia's Internal Security Act or ISA has its roots in the 1950s, when the country, then under British colonial rule, was fighting a Communist insurgency. Almost six decades on and the Communist threat has gone but the law remains. Opponents say many of the act's original checks and balances have been eroded over the years and the ISA is now being used to stifle political dissent. But the government says the law is a necessary tool in the pursuit of social stability. Aloke Devichand reports on those fighting to have the ISA abolished once and for all.

simply replace "malaysia" with "singapore" & one will have a fair idea of what it's like south of malaysia. i.s.a is euphemism for thought control & has no place in a society, especially one that calls itself a democracy.

''we declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be given the rights of a human being, to be respected as a human being, in this society on this earth in this day which we intended to bring into existence'' - Malcolm X-

Gila. Sesiapapun boleh ditahan oleh ISA tanpa perbicaraan. Ia patut dikaji semula ataupon terus dimasuhkan kerana ia melibatkan penganiayaan. Saya fikir ia tidak wajar sekali! iTS NOT THE ANSWER TO RACIAL INTEGRATION!
