'We are not animals that need to be knocked off,' Care to clarify? What makes humans anymore important than other animals? Or is this just a product of your ego?

if someone is dying and dont want to be saved why not respect there wished if i was dying i wouldnt want to suffer ive prayed on it and i feel that it is not wrong and you cannot condem someone 4 the choices they will decide to make if it, happens to you (lord willing it wont) then we will see what you decide i have a friend who is dying and he wants that done i respect him for not wanting to suffer.

That's not compassion, its called murder. A truly compassionate person would do everything that they could do to help a terminally ill person. We are not animals that need to be knocked off, if we are not well. And just for your information, I have had several relatives who ended up terminally ill and I myself have cirrhosis. And if it ever came down to it, I will continue to remain positive and hope for the best till the end, rather than end my life.

Already the maelstrom is happening. Legalizing murdering infants (abortion), marijuiana (which can cause more health problems and social consequences than it helps), and now this... :( And with Obama... we are in DEEP trouble.

Your basically advocating murder.

Assisted suicide should never be encouraged. It should be an option briefly mentioned and only elaborated on if the patient brings it up. Death is a very serious issue. Why not let people who are going to die soon end their misery? However, advocating and encouraging that someone choose euthanasia is ridiculous.

I feel this issue is rather simple. Assisted suicide for people with depression is ludicrous. It should only be offered to Terminally Ill patients at the end of their lives in severe pain- It's a personal choice- if you don't like it, then when your in that situation don't do it. I'm sure there are many people out there who wouldn't want to spend the last days of their lives in unbearable pain, not being able to move. In the end, if someone really wants do die how is anyone going to stop them?

To all of those who oppose assisted suicide, I honestly hope you never get into a situation where you need it. I am terminally ill, and I live in Oregon, and I am thankful that the people of Oregon are compassionate enough to have laws that give me the option of ending my own suffering when I feel the time is right. If you don't believe in it, don't do it when the time comes, but do not take the right away from those of us who suffer mightily every day. Death with dignity is a good law.
