Peace be with you native american brothers and sisters, I am Maori and have always admired your cultures! tino ataahua(very beautiful) There are many similarities to our own! One being the struggle for Independance and recognition! Know that you have Whanau(family) here in New Zealand who support you in this struggle!!!!!

well when my grandmother was a young girl she was forced to be ashamed....times have changed...we are getting stronger every day...and when it comes down to it we know who we are.....

hey talk about thigs they don't even know and adding stories that never happend, atleast not the way some of them are preaching. All I'm saying is that everybody needs to do something to keep their culture alive! No matter what culture you are. Sooner or later we all are just a story in the book and we all know how that will turn out.

It may not fade in your own circle but it does around the world.
People do alot to keep it alive but alot of people are fakes who are trying to take over your culture and pressent them selfs as natives. Especially here in germany.

we are about 2% of the total population....but in my daughter's school there are about 300 students and of that there are only 5 anglos...in my son's school there are about 800 students and about only 20 anglos....The majority of students are Navajo.....

Many of us do that, or try as hard as we can.
Do you know how hard it is to teach a teenager a brand new language when they're already fluent in English?
I do. I'm a teenager learning my language, and I have a great appreciation for my culture and WILL pass it on to my children.
