That's part of the romantic beauty of the movie (and Sicily). In reality it is tragic but then again, tragedy and romance are so often linked in the human psyche...think Romeo and Juliet and you see what I mean.

Movie was probably the greatest mob thing ever made. Only problem was that it made everyone and their grandmother want to be in the mob when actually being in the mob is not as much fun per se. But the movies are tremondous.

As sicilian I must admit, this film is very old fashion, such poetry in my land exist not anymore, and mafia has been always more a cancer than anything else, just think the story of Corleone family.
Mike loses all, even the love of his life, friends, familiars, all cause of the business and the honour, who live such life never finds peace, but is the only life he knows, how sad.
