Exactly. This was years later. He was elected mayor of hobbitan six or seven times. In the year SR 1482 (Sept 22), he sets out, giving the Red Book to Elanor. I believe in SR 1421 is when Frodo and Bilbo set out. So there is a gap. This is on pages 418-419 of RotK Appx. B.
