Yes, she is unfortunately. In 1995, the president of her fan club shot her because the Quintanillas fired her for embezzling money.

I'm 56 yrs.young and loved her since the early 90s I was struck by her overwhelmingly warmth and purity with which the entertainment industry severely lacks. When I think of the great things she was about to go on to,and how she would of surpassed any and all female artist out there, and I mean ALL, and then to have that "THING" take her life I just break down like I was a little girl. . For me it's as powerful a loss as losing the Kennedys & King all at once. Thoughts fr a Nova Scotia boy
