Dylan is a great observer and commentator of these timesthis song is full of personal references.Things have changed, and people are crazy now, and dylan has lost his protest rage, he can't adapt to the new conditions of show business.when he says "ms lucy and mr jinx jumped in a lake" he refers to artists of his generation that committed suicide, while he can't do it even though he doesn't belong in this new world.
