Yeah man why can't every good band be unpopular? Or, even better, just popular and good enough for you to know about them and enjoy their music but not popular and good enough to ever become any more popular or have anyone else enjoy their music. If you're not yet accustomed to good bands becoming popular you gotta get with the program.

People who get pissed when a band they like "before they were famous" becomes popular are assholes, I'm sorry. So you appreciate their talent, but you don't want other people to? You don't want their talent to actually get the attention it deserves? So you like them, but only if no one else does? That doesn't make you a fan, it makes you a selfish tool who is conforming to the very concept of nonconformity. Irony at its most sickening. MGMT is a great band, and I'm glad they made it big.
