Lots of sound effects get reused in many movies, mostly generic stuff like doors opening, monster roars, people screaming, gunfire. As someone who plays a lot of video games I think it's easier to recognize it as the same sounds will get used in games. Just as an example, anyone who's played Warcraft 2 will probably recognize that the sounds the dragon units make are a very popular set of Hollywood 'monster growl' stock effects. Willhelm is just the tip of the iceberg.
