A rare clip of Marty Robbins singing Blue Spanish Eyes. He never recorded that song, maybe he sang with some of his own lyrics as he even didn't remember the words!!!

You know this is funny..I came first to listen to "El Paso", then "Spanish Eyes" came next in my thoughts. As if for reasons unknown, people seem to so commonly associate this song with Marty Robbins. When I heard him say he never recorded it, I was so surprised. Apparently it was originally recorded by Al Martino. Huh. I really like Marty Robbins rendition better.

If what he says is a fact. He never did record this song. BUT... just to see what a brilliant and versitle singer our Marty was , have you heard him sing "Drowsy Waters" It's one of his "Island" songs.

he released don't worry in 61, devil woman in 62. 60-63 were his prime years. he also released the second of his hawaian albms in 63 featuring his skillful voice breaks and incomparable falshetto.

Well I checked every reply before answering this time, Marty's first heart attack was around 1968, so 60-62, go find out what albums he released then. Though his doctors did originally tell him to stop performing after this first ha/surgery.

TYPING ERROR I meant MARTY! Sad that so many exceptional voices have been silenced by disease and accidents. Marty, Roy Orbison, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Richy Valenz, Big Bopper, to name just a few. It would have really great to keep those people around a bit longer to see and hear what more they could have come up with. Oh Well, maybe when we walk through the pearly gates we'll hear them in the choir???? Maybe we'll sing as good as them then?? Wait and see!!!!

I got to see Mary LIVE at the Boone county fairground in ILL years ago. He had that same guitar, must be his favorite. It appears to be a 3/4 size and I thought it neat the way he held it. He had a voice like no other. Love his music, his style. When I learned he had died, it really hit me hard, I could always turn on his music when feeling down and it would cheer me up. I was so down, I took the next day off work and just puttsed around the house and yard listening to his cassettes.
