This is a wonderful video that clearly explains what a good idea the democrats had went way too far to the left. Thanks Bill Clinton, and now Obama wants to expand on it. Can you say USSA? United Socialist States of America. All I can hope for is the military will take down Obama.

I doubt the American public is stupid to believe in last minute white-wash & change their vote. You cannot wipe away 8 years of mis-management, corruption, lies & pass the buck on a dated legislation. Republicans screwed up! The honorable thing is to own up & move on. If Obama wasn't the best candidate? Would a respected Republican leader, Colin Powell or Scott McClellan endorse him? I respect McCain, but his pick of designer-wear lugging barbie doll, I don't think he's ready to lead America.
ULANKALOOFY (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Instead of taking action in the 8 years, the GOP let the asset bubble grow, let banks over-leverage with zilch legislation to regulate them. And! gave those greedy bankers $700 billion. Yes, lets give them more money to screw up and screw Americans. Let's not spend that on real America, make it cheaper to get in college, retrain employees to combat better-skilled foreigners, provide affordable health care, build more schools, improve public transport, reduce dependency on foreign energy.
ULANKALOOFY (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
And speaking of campaign contribution, and illicit gains. Have you forgotten how Bechtel, Halliburton bled the American public and soldiers dry? They overcharged for sub-standard equipment, profiting from illicit deals, and we don't need to forget, who worked for it earlier?
Do not forget, that while CRA may have helped poor people get their first decent home, asset prices rose everywhere in the world during that time. There was no CRA in UK? Or Germany? Or Italy? Or China or India?
ULANKALOOFY (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
While the CRA is just one part of the problem, you haven't mentioned why the republicans didn't do jack schmidt when they had the majority? Also, when they did not have the money, why did they make a baloney story about WMD's, and end up spending a trillion dollars on a worthless war that only caused millions of people to die. Could that money have not been used to build better inner-city school? Wasn't it Bush who said, No child left behind? Or was it no child left behind, in Iraq?

Also, I find it disturbing that those in government trying to do right by it's citizenry would be blamed for something that clearly was the fault of greedy banks and investors who did little to self regulate perhaps knowing that a scapegoat was at hand.

I too was offered an ARM but clearly it was a risky proposition at best. I understood that if interest rates went up or my home value leveled off or declined that I would be in trouble. I opted for the safe mortgage at a reasonable fixed interest rate. Having all the options on the table, I find it hard to believe that so many people found an ARM desirable over a fixed 4.5, 5 or 6 percent rate. |
