This country was founded on the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech. This is why there is still NO official language or religion in America and why there will never be one. English was merely a language that the British Royaty tried to impose on this Nation. I all you want to hear is Enlish, then go back to England...this is a Nation of many languages and many religions. That's what makes this country so great.

I have a lot of friends, from all different culturies, but I do get mad when, I make a phone call and it says press 1 for english why not say press 1 for spanish.I don't lke talking to a recording anyway. just my thoughts

elmanolette-I appreciate the fact you are making the effort to speak English. I would rather you spoke it poorly than not at all. I also believe you should retain your native tongue and teach it to your children. People discriminate for many reasons. That will never stop. You are smart not to let that ignorance hinder your ability to communicate in the country you have chosen to live in. It will be to your benefit. You are mistaken though in that there are hostilities especially around Quebec.

I live in Toronto Canada nobody complains about French or another language. We make our best learning Englis, but when I find in USA some people discriminating me because of my accent or my background I would rather speak spanish. |
