This song is about hoping the world will carry you through your problems. Every times there is any sort of decision that needs to be made, or act that needs to be done you can't do it and you have no one to blame but yourself. Then he says "You may have some cosmic excuse" i.e. the universe will end at some point, what is the point to life, we all will die in the end. If that is your choice so be it, but you will get nothing out of life.
