Part 1 of 2 This award winning film gives a glimpse behind the scenes of building the ATLAS detector. It asks: * Why are so many physicists anxious to build this apparatus? * Will they be able to answer fundamental questions such as: Where does mass come from? * Why does the universe have so little antimatter? * Are there extra dimensions of space that are hidden from our view? * Is there an underlying theory to find? Major surprises are likely in this unknown part of physics. A DVD containing Episode 1, Episode 2, the ATLAS movie and "From Virtual World to Real World" in higher resolution can be obtained at http://atlas.ch/dvds.html

Just a thought to see if i'm accurate or not... Let's say a neutron is the Earth. Would Earth itself then be the size of a galaxy?

Yea' OK 1 minute in & already it's B.S. propaganda. 4 instance, they shot Hubble @ 'empty' space 4 several days & found out there is even more stuff out there - old stuff AND 'new' stuff - discrediting the '1 big bang' nonsense. It's more like an endless bubble bath with many 'little bangs'. The universe is infinite & eternal, & I wager as U go down it's the same way - just keep gettin' smaller. 1 thing in nature tho - energy flows. I bet everything is just made of 'motion' - knowadimean?

Not to mention that that first run was only a test run... First full power run and collision is on Oct. 21/08

Tomorrow they're testing the machine, the first experiment using actual protons will take place in october, but the machine will be 100% ready by 2010 according to the CERN website

tommorow mate, in the morning. so get ready :D people keep saying that the world might end etc. but this isnt going to happen, particles collide at similar speeds all the time... usually coming from space to the atmosphere. so dont worry chaps

when are they going to start doing the experiment? its been built for a while now... I think.

are all electrons the same size and charge? protons the same size and charge ?
OdGuardian1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
looking forward to the experiment!
