Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant directs Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay-rights icon Harvey Milk. Mr. Milk (1930-1978) was an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America; in 1977, he was voted to the city supervisors' board of San Francisco. The following year, both he and the city's mayor George Moscone were shot to death by another city supervisor, Dan White. Mr. Milk was previously the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary feature "The Times of Harvey Milk," but "Milk" is the first non-documentary feature to explore the man's life and career.

that is pretty sweet... I wish I had known about this movie while it was shooting. It would've been cool to go up to San Francisco to see the filming.

I went and saw it in the Castro, which made it all the more emotional. I'm sure everyone in the theater was at least teary (I for one was crying by the end). Amazing movie, amazing performances. Definitely should win some Oscars (as long as the Academy doesn't decide to be bigots like what most likely happened for Brokeback Mountain).

Its just something I dont believe in. Its just not normal. Most people like the opposite sex and get married and have kids. Until homosexuals can have children on their own, than they should not have marriage.

Im of a coo-coo culture what the fuck, I just dont believe in protecting certain people by hate-crime legislation. If you disagree with my opinion thats fine, but dont go to name calling. And who the fuck attacks retarded people, they arent bothering anybody, its not their fault they are like that. Thats BS whoever does that.

Yeah, a crime is a crime, doesnt matter who the victim is, the perp should be punished with as much time as the law allows. Now, I believe hate crimes are BS, but I do so the point of view in having them, but in my opinion its unnecessary, just use existing laws to punish the criminal.

Ghostwriter ... could you explain in a not so long winded fashion, the fundamental reason you are against this? Something short and concise like "because I believe it is an unholy perversion of the word of God ... there has to be one core belief that drives your opinion and I want to know what it is.

Good for you!! I support Gay Marriage, though I am not gay. I think that all people deserve the exact same Civil Rights. To deny someone of those rights is like burning the Constitution.

Just my two cents on gay marraige. I am a gay man and I do not NEED a legal union. I love who I love and I'm secure with that. What bothers me is that some guy up in Washington is telling me I CAN'T get married because HE is offended by it. THAT pisses me off. America is mine just the same as it is his and I deserve to have the exact same rights he does regardless of how he views the situation morally. That's where separation of church and state comes in.
