You are limiting yourself in your thinking. Mind maps are, as you say, great. They are great for creative, joined up thinking. But there is also a need for linear thinking.
It is a mistake to adopt mind maps and discard lists. They BOTH have their uses and their place in the thinker's toolbox.

Mind mapping is great, but having a plain list on how to do it without colour, without pictures, without creativity was a total let down.
Don't use this video to teach it's a bad example.
