yeah you do have a point there, however metal is more world wide spread than western pop music, he probably means by that and not CD sales but I can see what you mean

could someone explain to me how he can say that in 1986 heavy metal became the most popular music in the world? '88 or '89 would come closer. but '86--prince, madonna, bruce springsteen, michael jackson, cyndi lauper, dire straits, billy idol, etc. pop rock has always been the highest selling music, with the most concert-goers. i love metal, but just because the black album and appetite for destruction are 2 of the higest selling albums of all time, they can't compare to the sales of pop.

could someone please explain to me how he came up with the notion that heavy metal became the most popular form of music in 1986? even if you include hard rock, like def leppard, motley crue, and all those others, that still doesn't make sense to me. |
