I saw a bug like that, only it had a really long stinger. like the size of a pin. And the wings were longer than it's body. I live in UT. I never thought that there were giants bugs like that here.

I would kill this giant nasty thing before it calls more colleagues to attack you...one sting/bite isn't so nasty, but with more of them it can be dangerous..

I saw one of these a couple of weeks back and found out a bit more info. First I thought it was an Asian Hornet, but then I found out it was actually a native European Queen Hornet yours looks exactly the same as the one I saw. The European Queen Hornet is actually larger than the Asian Hornet.
